I have to disagree with your assessment.

Spooner averaged only around 12mins/g at even strength, nowhere near top 6 minutes... and Boston is/was a very good team. During his 4 most productive years 2014/15-2017/18, 47 of his 147 points were on the PP. Essentially he got 2.44 pts/60 mins 5vs5 playing 3rd line minutes (non-scoring line), which would surprisingly rank 5th among Flames forwards last season.

In short, he was very productive in a sheltered role 5v5, and on the PP, on a good Bruins team. It's really shocking how quickly he faded. I'm guessing someone will give him a shot on a very cheap contract for a 1 yr.
