It probably would cost more than just Czarnik, but I certainly wouldn't give up the 26th OA for him, or even a prospect that looks headed for the NHL.

JP has not progressed. That alone probably knocks him down to a late 1st in value. Add to that, he demanded a trade. That subtracts from value. Add to that, it is known that he has openly flirted with the idea of going back to Europe already. It's quite possible that he gives his new team just one season and if he doesn't advance as a top 6 forward, he leaves North America.

And you can't forget the double hip surgery.

All those things drastically reduce his value. Also consider that the Oilers can't really afford to take back salary either, so that also reduces what kind of project they can take back.

Plus, I can't see the Oilers wanting anymore draft picks or prospects that aren't ready. Holland has no connection to him and probably just wants something to help them make the playoffs.

I would love to give JP a chance on the Flames, but I sure wouldn't give up much for him. And I doubt a lot of teams would.

I also can't help but think Czarnik is at least capable of 15 goals and 30 points if he isn't buried by depth like he is on the Flames.
