I'm guessing you are referring to this:Five-second closely guarded violation.
But in the NBA this rule is applied only in a throw in scenario.
Which I take it to mean once Kawai had gotten the ball from the inbounder he has to pass, dribble or shoot within 5 seconds. He dribbled up the court that rule is no longer applicable. He then passes to Green.
I haven't seen anyone else online (on basketball forums, anywhere) mention this rule you guys are stating. Show me somewhere where it says Green had to get rid of the ball.
There's no ref counting to five in that situation Green was in.
