This isn't "old fashioned," it's ignorant.
Crying isn't disrespectful.
Remaining emotionally composed isn't a choice you make.
And having your eyes well up isn't "crying like a baby." Have you ever interacted with a human baby? That's not what "crying like a baby" looks like. I'm sure parents around the worse wish desperately that's what crying looked like.
When you go for something big and you put every single thing you have into it, there's no energy left to spend on worrying about controlling your "manners." I think it's sad that there are people out there who go through life, never having put everything they had into anything, and never knowing the true feeling of joy when it works out, and the crushing feeling when it doesn't. You can go around life half-assing things and convincing yourself you tried, but you'll never know how good or bad things can feel just clocking in and out every day. What a boring life.
This take is as bad as if someone rolled in here and said "I don't think the players should swear when they win, it's disrespectful."
