You can get a feel for how hard everything is by how hard it is to just put a tee in the ground at the tee boxes - 1cm of sod, then you need a hammer to push the tee in any further. I just ended up using shorter tees.
It's from all the silt deposited by the flood. That stuff is like concrete until some organic matter and sand get mixed in.

The holes at that were flooded at River's Edge and Inglewood were the same way for a couple years. The side bonus is that the deposited soil is very nutrient rich which makes for good grass.
