I think what we really need is better pedestrians.

That starts at home. Teach your kids how to walk.

I live surrounded by schools and playgrounds and I cant tell you how many times I see a kid heel-turn to the crosswalk to cross the street.

Headphones in, wearing a hoodie so theres no peripheral vision, staring at a phone, not hitting the crosswalk sign....

When a pedestrian makes eye contact with me to make sure I see them and am stopping for them before crossing the street I want to high-five them!

But we've created a generation of pedestrians that are completely oblivious to their surroundings. So much so that they get hit by trains!!

The rules are basically that pedestrians are King and have full right of way everywhere and always, and to a degree I have no issue with that.

But being 'right' is little consolation after being hit by a car because you werent looking and didnt protect yourself.

We need better pedestrians.
