I think that instead of the current standard of 2-2-1-1-1 each round should be 2-3-2 with games 4 & 5 back to back followed by a travel day and 6&7 back to back.

Teams would have nothing left in the later rounds if they made it that compact.
The only practical solution I see is shaving something like 6 to 8 games from the RS and start the playoffs 2 weeks sooner.
