I have also lost and gained and lost and gained. I have had luck with Atkins but put the weight back on.
I have found that using an on line calorie counter like Myfooddiary.com has really helped me to realize what I am eating and how bad it is for me.
The other thing I did was get an elliptical trainer and I play playstation or watch the flames on Tivo. This really makes the time go by easier.
