Except that, according to the article: "San Jose's Cisco said it has owned the trademark for the iPhone name since June 2000." and the iPod wasn't released until 2001. So, IF those timelines are correct then Cisco didn't jump an any bandwagons.

Although I have little doubt that Cisco is attempting to get as much out of Apple as possible. I also feel a little bad for the guy who owns iphone.com (and has owned it for 13 years - his company is Internet Phone Co).
