Yeah and it really looked like it worked for them. P6 + P8 after FP2 with KMag ~-0.25 behind Grosjean and GJ was only 0.1s behind Max.
That is a crazy amount of things to change on a racecar, let alone an F1 car. Being able to get the tires warmed up evenly, aero downforce distributed evenly, etc all under FP/race conditions is a crazy amount of engineering and data analysis.
I dont think they were allowed to have even ran the car in the new trim, just CFD and wind tunnel testing.
