I mean they priced themselves at a level that would make lots of MLS organizations blush. It's not like they were even close. There's five different types of potential fans for a Canadian professional soccer league
1. Elite sports fans (Not likely to buy in to soccer at this level)
2. Casual Calgary sports fans (like Calgary sports in general, will buy in if the experience is good and price is decent)
3. low income sports fans (will buy in to any decent product if they can afford to bring the family without breaking the bank, this market is HUGE)
4. hardcore high level soccer fans (not huge on this level of soccer but would probably come out because it's the best we have, if the price is alright)
5. Hardcore soccer fans (will buy in at almost any price because they crave soccer at any level and will pay whatever price
So who did they target with their pricing? Number 1 and 5? Of which there aren't a whole ton of in the city. They left so many fans on the table it almost stings.
