True Detective, while it can be hit or miss due to the nature of new stories and characters from season to season, is one of the great moody dramas since Breaking Bad left the air.
Barry has produced nothing but top notch work since it started last year. It wouldn't shock me to see it win multiple Emmys this year. It's an amazing show worthy of anyone's time.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver continues to be the most irreverent political comedy show with mostly very high quality in depth magazine pieces on important topics. Another show worthy of watching every week.
Big Little Lies will be airing a second season very soon, picking up on the popularity of the 1st season. I wasn't keen on watching that one, but I'm really glad I did. It was excellent.
I'm not the biggest fan of Westworld, but that's a show with a pretty strong following as well.
They've just started airing a new Chernobyl miniseries, and is already getting incredibly positive feedback after the first episode.
There's a new Deadwood reunion movie coming soon which should be great.
Bill Maher is still going strong after all this time. Still produces a great show with good discussion, debate, and information.
Then you have lighter fare like Ballers, Insecure, Silicon Valley (whenever that comes back) that all add other smaller reasons to watch HBO.
I'm just saying, if the only reason to watch HBO is GoT, then you're missing out on some of the best content on television.

I think compared to something like GoT or the new Middle Earth show from Amazon there isn't much going on.
