It's one thing to get good people in place and another for it to work out. Plenty of successful coaches and GM's have changed teams and it hasn't worked out. For all the hoopla in the Toronto market with Babcock, Lamoriello, Dubas, etc it's netted less playoff series victories this decade than even the Flames. Given the Oilers roster, prospect base, and salary cap structure the greatest GM in the history of sports would have his work cut out for him and even at that it's very unlikely the marriage results in anything meaningful.
