For the purposes of offer sheet compensation, offer sheets AAV are determined by taking the total $ figure and dividing it by lesser of the number of years or 5. The actual AAV for salary cap purposes are calculated the normal way.
So a 10,568,589 x 7 deal is really a $14,769,024.60 AAV for compensation and therefore 4 1sts.
The maximum any team can offersheet on a 7 year deal and only give up 2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd would be a $7,548,992.14 x 7. Which makes it easier for the original team to match.
