Glad to hear you made it- and sorry I could have been there with you. The wind can be a factor, but usually isn’t this bad.
Figure I’d share with the rest of you why I didn’t join him. Had a major crash on Wednesday. Was taken by ambulance to the hospital. They did X-rays and CT scans, and the doctor told me several times that he couldn’t believe I didn’t have any broken bones- especially my cheek bone. I’m at home now- dealing with the concussion, muscle pain and the facial injuries.
What happened was a lady was waking her dog on the bike path by Fort Calgary. (Yes- where the pedestrian path is right beside.). Anyway- the dog lunges at my bike, and I don’t recall if I braked too hard or swerved too hard. But went flying over the handlebars at 20 km/h and landed head/face first on the concrete. Lady with the dog was an EMT and tended to me, somebody else called 911. Ambulance was there pretty quick and they loaded my bike into the ambulance as well.
So that’s how my week has been. Would rather have been fighting the wind with everybody today. Don’t think I should post a picture, but my boss told me “you can come back to work once you stop looking like a zombie.”
