Total fallacy. The Avalanche out hit the Sharks by more than double that period. Just look at Carolina. They were the soft but quick team that went up against the heavy, mean, bruising Capitals and they didn’t just make it a series, they beat them.
The Flames can complete with any team, they just needed to play towards their strengths rather than play towards the Avalanche’s strength. The Flames couldn’t out skate the Avs mono e mono, so they should’ve made it a boring, ugly, defensive series like the Islanders did to the far superior Penguins. It may have been a boring series, but the Islanders’ style was extremely effective.
