Except it wasn't sudden. First you have Pepper hulking out at the end of Iron Man 3 to protect Tony, but she's not comfortable with the whole superhero role. Then in Endgame there is very clear forshadowing with Tony's daughter playing with the helmet from the suit he made Pepper, which she didn't want to want to wear. Makes sense that in the final battle for the universe that she would finally relent and join the fight
And everyone complaining about the Fem-Avengers scene is so lame. Yes it was contrived, but it was all of a few seconds long and likely made millions of little girls around the world very happy. Let them enjoy that moment like the millions of adult nerds did when Cap lifted Mjolnir
