I've watched it off and on every season. Each episode I watch gets a chuckle or two but it's definitely not as good as it used to be. That could be as due to the changing landscape of comedy. The Simpsons has always been pretty clean and the audience that loved it as teens/young adults are now in their 40s/50s.

Similar to SNL, I think the Simpsons has been getting a "historical pass" for a while.

It really stopped being on my schedule a while ago, I watch the occassional episode, and its just not that funny. They've kind of trapped the characters. I mean Lisa and Bart and Maggie never age, Homer and Marge aren't all that dynamic.

I mean lets be honest there have been character changes, but have they been better

Homer - From good natured, slightly defeated Oaf, to a bit of a jerk who's only there to play the pratfall

Marge - Good natured, slightly overwhelmed house wife who was looking for more to a bit shrill and trapped housewife, she's really only there to say "look this episode is really sentimental"

Bart - From a Dennis the Menace type to a heartless prankster and anarchist
Lisa - From the smartest member of the family and wise beyond her years to a flavor of the week cause character
Maggie - from the non talking but smart baby of the family to pretty much a piece of furniture.
