That video kinda summed up my whole problem with the last few seasons. The show has gone from great writing with a real world unpredictability to it, to straight fan service. I get why people clapped and cheered, but it's not the same show that hooked me so hard in the first 4 seasons

At some point I think they needed to veer off that path though - they couldn’t just keep killing off the main characters while driving the show to a conclusion. At some point a couple of main characters need to stand out and become viable options for the iron throne.
Plus I think the pace needed to pick up as they got into season 5 to start working to a conclusion. IIRC there were a lot of complaints around that time too that the show was moving too slow. They had to trade off some of the deep storytelling and lore to move towards a conclusion in the time they had.
And while it’s getting more predictable as you move to the end if you look at the series as a whole it’s still unpredictable start to finish as people wouldn’t have expected Jon, Bran, Sansa, and Arya playing the roles they do now in season 1 (and I do feel like the tv show always leaned heavier into he Starks than any other characters.)
