LOL, about half the people I talked to totally saw Arya killing the Night King, at least by the time Arya suddenly runs off like she's on a mission. Many even before the season began. It's a pretty obvious solution to the problem of "how do you kill a king who has an army we can't beat". You need an assassin, not another army, and there aren't that many "assassin" type characters in the series, really only Arya and Bronn.
They also basically turned the series into "Game of Women" last season, with power now mostly resting with women and most heroic moments and decisions made by wome (Which I'm not objecting against on a general basis, although I do feel they've been overdoing it a little.)
and just in general Arya has been shown to be much more on that "power level" where you sneak up to a king.
I mean, basically all major characters have either died in assassinations or betrayals of some sort, and there wasn't likely going to be a betrayal plot with the Night King, so an assassination it is. It was never going to happen in a "fair fight" of any kind
I'm mostly disappointed that the characters themselves didn't discuss this fairly obvious solution to their problem. And that Arya screamed while jumping, that was a really out of character moment. Silence would have been way cooler
All that criticism aside, I really enjoyed the episode though, despite the admittedly poor picture quality.
Oh, and I absolutely agree that the quality of the dialogue has absolutely plummeted, especially in the last two seasons. The series has essentially changed it's genre, going from political grim low fantasy into adventurous edgy high fantasy.
It's a shame because the series was originally just way better, but on the other hand... Well they kind of did that other thing already, for many seasons. While you could keep spinning new plots and twists, the quality would have gone down eventually anyway.
I actually kind of like this turn where they're now doing the other cool things you can do in fantasy in general, because this is really now the best there has ever been in high fantasy genre. The "backstory" of the previous seasons gives us interesting characters relations and a deep world, they have a solid cast and visual style, and there's really no one else who has the budget to do these kinds of massive fantasy battles, which I love watching, especially since they're not COMPLETE nonsense historically speaking.
I mean, really the only other decent fantasy battles ever filmed are in the LotR films. They're really an extremely rare treat still.
