I think he could be used as a trade chip but I don’t think the Flames are going to be as harsh on him as they will be on their more important and more experienced players who also disappointed. Personally I was a lot more disappointed by Brodie, Gaudreau and Monahan than Jankowski. Far less was expected out of Jankowski and he had no nhl playoff experience before this year. We don’t need to be giving up on Janko or Tkachuk based on their playoffs.
Gotta take age, experience and role into consideration. Jankowski gets another chance to improve unless he’s a trade chip that another team really wants and Tre decides to use him as such.

Experience and role are factors, sure. But Janko's 24, and will be 25 by the time next season starts. He's always been a project, though, so who knows. Maybe he'll be a late bloomer, maybe not.
It's more his passivity 5 on 5 that's a drawback. And of course he was far from the only one guilty of it or far from the biggest problem. He's actually kind of similar to Monahan, and having two centres of that mold could be part of what made the team easier to defend against after the accursed all-star break.
