For those that claim NBC is always superior for production and crowd noise, I actually find them to be quite hit or miss.
Sportsnet is fairly poor mediocre but consistent quality and you can almost always tell it's a playoff game even though they mute the crowd too much. But I also find a lot of NBC coverage like this Caps game tonight to be completely botched.
Their crowd levels are just whack. You can hear all game that the fans are loud, but it's barely coming through the mics. Even when they're SUPER loud and chanting it sounds like you're standing on a street corner, 3 kilometers from a football stadium.
Just brutal. Totally kills the atmosphere for the viewer. The difference is NBC also hits it out of the park with excellent crowd noise sometimes and I think fans just remember those games when they're mad at Sportsnet.
