Trade Deadline Deals: After Round One
Looking back, there were a bunch of players that CP wanted, including rentals, on the basis that "this is the year". I don't think any of them would have pushed Calgary across the line, but it's interesting to see what impact they had on the teams that got them:
Kevin Hayes: Cost a 1st, 2nd and Lemieux. Was pretty meh to me and now they are out (and he's a UFA).
Mark Stone (plus Lindberg): Cost 2 players plus a second, and got re-signed. Played well in the POs but they are out. Not a rental, so it's all about him earning his big salary.
Wayne Simmonds: Cost Hartman plus a 4th, played badly and now they are out, and he's a UFA.
Matt Duchene (plus Bergman): Cost 2 players and 2 first round picks. And he's a UFA. But look what happened to him, and Columbus, in the POs!
