Free agents and expiring contracts mostly don't want to play here and we're on lots of no trade lists. That's huge. California and Florida can easily become contenders if they draft decent and have owners willing to spend (Anaheim, Tampa, LA, San Jose) along with big American cities (Chicago, New York area, Boston etc)
Combine that with crazy fans and media that won't leave you alone and pressure GM's into trying to do too much too soon and you have a recipe for disaster.
