Think that was more of an indictment on our center depth at the time.
At the end of the day, Mackinnon ran circles around Monahan all series long. Bednar couldn’t wait to get Mackinnon head to head against Monahan in Denver because he knew his center had a significant advantage on both ends of the ice. This wasn’t a Gaudreau vs Mackinnon series to me no matter how much the media wanted to make it. It was their center vs our centers and both Monahan and Backlund couldn’t cut it.
