Why would you get lesser pieces for them? That makes no sense. You would only trade them if you thought the deals were good.
As far as trading good young players in their prime the Flyers decided to do that and got some pretty decent deals IMO.
Carter for Voracek, 1st rounder (Couturier), 3rd rounder (Cousins)
Richards for Simmonds, Schenn and a 2nd
I'd argue Monahan and Gaudreau are at least as valuable if not moreso than Carter/Richards were at the time they were dealt.
Anyways I don't know if Treliving will decide there's a problem with one or two of those young men. But the suggestion that they won't return a boatload is preposterous. If the Flames decide to deal them they'd get a ransom for Gaudreau or Monahan. You're fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
