The Avs are a one line team. Period. But it is a line that has size and speed and grit. It is a complete line that can play the game any way, and the Flames don’t have an answer to it in any shape or form. The Flames have the talent, but not the answer to the Avs clogging up the neutral zone and closing off the lanes. They recognize the Flames will only take high percentage shots and they take away those areas, then wait for their only offensive threat to score. It’s been the Avs game all year. They have just played their game to a tee, and the Flames have not figured out how to crack the Avs defensive nut. It is unfortunate, but that is the way some series go. Look at the Lightning.
The only thing that really embarrasses me about this is the comments after the game. You have to give credit to the other team sometimes, and this is a time where the opposition just had a better game plan and took advantage of the one (predictable) weakness of the Flames. It ain’t over, but it looks over. The fans should be behind their team, not ####ting all over them. As has been said, with a little luck - and the Flames have had none this series - the Flames could be up 3-1. Yes, it’s disappointing, but it isn’t a burn this team to the ground moment. People need to step back and breathe.
