Gaudreau needs to be on a line with another player who can gain entry. The schtick he has where he waterbugs around and then dishes to Monahan in the slot is predictable and easy to defend in the playoffs when everyone gets played a lot tighter.


It’s just that Mackinnon looks worlds better right now in comparison. Crosby had 1 assist in 4 games and was swept by the Islanders and he’s a generational talent. If it was Crosby vs Gaudreau right now, the vitriol wouldn’tbe nearly as bad.

Playoff hockey is not suited for Gaudreau, I think even he knows that. But he can still be successful I think, he just needs a center that’s more puck dominant and can carry the puck up the middle more instead of always deferring to his winger Gaudreau. It’s tough always being expected to create from the wing when double teams and etc are coming at you.
