Again, no reason to be a dick. This is a person worried about losing their job if there are cuts made, and the fear (though, seems to be a little unfounded) is that cuts are coming soon. It’s not about a “right” to job security. Cuts happen, they seem to understand that, it’s that the likelihood of cuts to them has gone up and gotten closer.
I appreciate the need to make this some rant about public sector workers for you, but maybe not the best time or place.
If I had phrased the question “my friend is in a industry that’s gotten really rocky and is worried about losing their job, what should I say?” would you be better able to provide useful advice?
But thanks again to GGG and Estrada for their responses, I don’t think it made them feel better, but at least I have them something!
