Don't get me wrong, I don't think De Gea will keep playing poorly, but I suppose it highlights what his value actually is. On a team with a rock solid defense like Liverpool or Man City, is he really worth £400,000 a week? Alisson and Ederson are basically never challenged in most games, I'd be surprised if either has had to make five or more saves in more than a handful of games. With United's terrible defense, De Gea is vital, but if United shore up the defense is he really worth £400,000 a week? I just think as great as he is, he's not worth paying that much if he isn't required to bail his team out like he currently is. I know it's United and they have more than enough money to afford it, but if they need to be paying £400,000 a week for anyone it should be De Ligt or another defender.
