[The quote feature is not working for me]

transplant99: So what?

I do not believe that it is reasonably possible to truly separate a building, which exists because of religion, from the issues of the religion (or from the religion itself) that caused the building to be created in the first place. That's all.

BeltlineFan: The pyramids exist because of religion and were built by slaves. Should we advocate to have them dismantled?

No, but I'm not sure that, should they become damaged or destroyed, they should necessarily be rebuilt either. Just because something is old, or historic, or cultural (whatever that terms means) does not mean that it needs to be (or must be) rebuilt or preserved.

If the people of France want to rebuild the Cathedral, fine, that is their choice. And if they want to pay to rebuild it out of their own pockets, that too is their choice. I just don't fully understand that choice, and I think that the choice may be misguided, but that isn't my call to make.
