Oil doesn't even compete with wind and solar, since oil is too valuable to use for electricity except in rare situations. Meanwhile natural gas is the fastest growing energy source in the world (in absolute units). And despite the supposed low cost of wind and solar, everywhere there's been significant penetration, electricity prices go up.
