I had modest expectations, but that episode was quite good. We got to see all the reunions were were expecting, and they were handled well. Plot was moved along without too much teleportation except for

young Lord Umber making a speech in Winterfell one minute, then back at his holdings two-thirds of the way to the Wall getting killed by white walkers what seemed like a couple days later- does that mean the white walkers are only a couple day's march from Winterfell?

I love how these books have been out for over 20 years and it's considered a dick move to mention anything from them. But an hour after an episode of the TV show airs it's open game all over the internet.
