With all the hubbub around Frolik’s chance and the excellent save, it was hard to see how the puck went the other way for MacKinnon’s goal. By the time I could see, I just saw him go in on half breakaway, and assumed a defenseman made a bad read st some point
But no, that was all Backlund. In position with McKinnoon at the redline or so, and then coasted and just let him go.

No one was going to catch Mackinnion, it didn’t matter if Backlund was even with him at the redline. This guy is the best player in the game for me. I take him over McDavid any day and given the age and size, I even take him over Crosby. Mackinnion was the wildcard in this series for me. I knew he was fully capable of winning this series on his own and if the Flames don’t step it up, he will.
Damn I wish Sakic took Feasters offer of the 3 first rounders for the first overall.
