Definitely an interesting thread for me, as I have been a frequenter of Cowboys for ages now. And I think there is a lot of very good comments on this thread. The thing is, people go to bars for different reasons, and Cowboys does have its place. If you are 18 or 19, and want to go to a place where you can get blitzed where a lot of other University students are doing the same, then Cowboys is the spot. You don't go to Cowboys to pick up a classy lady.
Cowboys is also the spot where a lot of famous celebrities will go. I told Teemu Selanne he sucked for beating Calgary, met Kevin Costner, Tie Domi, Dion Phaneuf, and drank out of the Grey Cup.
I agree that there are places like Broken City, or Hi-Fi, which actually play good music and the crowd isn't there to get ripped. But you have to remember that each establishment has their place.
One other thing, out of the large nightclubs (Cowboys, Mynt, Tantra, Roadhouse, Whiskey, Coyotes, Back Alley, etc.) Cowboys has the fewest undercover cops on duty, because they have the fewest number of fights. I believe they have 2 cops, whereas some bars have up to 12. They were also the first ones to install metal detectors.
