Seattle is great, it has all the great things only big US cities have, but is filled with clean and polite people (though that documentary about Seattle becoming a bums paradise was a bit alarming).
Portland was kind of a letdown, it may make a better place to live than visit, it's got it's charm but we got bored there pretty quick. Kind of like Vancouver, minus the soul crushing cost of living.
