My family and I did a road trip through the midwest last year and I thought Indianapolis, Madison and Milwaukee were pretty awesome cities. All the amenities of large metropolises without all the negative aspects (traffic, scary areas/crime). I used to travel to Columbus, OH alot 15 years ago and I thought that was a really nice city too.
