If you took more than 2 seconds, you would have realised that Alberta consumer spending still increased in 2016 over 2015, just like 2015 increased over 2014, and 2013, etc.

While it may fluctuate quarter to quarter, this is not a wild natural resource where the money you thought you’d have at the end of the year just isn’t there. That’s why it’s stable, you can count on it remaining about the same as the year previous at worst.

Plus, it’s also worth noting that the same quarter mentioned in the article includes the May Wildfires in Fort Mac, and any natural disaster will impact spending. Yet spending still improved year over year. That should tell you something.
