At the end of the day it’s about $$. Isn’t it always? Teams are (mostly) fine with whatever regs as long as they don’t change the engine formula too much (V6 hybrids). Ross Brawn, F1’s head of Motorsport ops, will be able to negotiate that no problem with the teams. It’ll come down to what Chase Carey (F1’s Bettman), and Brawn, can negotiate with teams for money split and budget cap.
Ferrari, Merc and RBR don’t want a budget cap. And a team like RBR are worried Merc and Ferrari will cheat by using their retail vehicle divisions to develop tech and bypass the cap. Then you have teams like Renault who want a cap but they want it set at what they’re already spending.
