At one point in the conversation he gets to talking about this trade in the summer, and says that he had been trying to acquire both Lindholm and Derek Ryan for "two or three years" before the trade happened.
Treliving says he watched Lindholm a lot and really thought that he was going to be a star in the League. Lindholm in Carolina "did everything at an elite level, other than it just didn't go in for him," and the thought was that playing with "the players we expected him to play with that could change."
Hanifin was always seen as possessing "elite physical traits." Treliving points out that he had never spent more than two years playing in any League, and that in his first year in the NHL he was two years out of prep school(!).

What caught my attention was Treliving revealing they were in fact big game fishing (you can connect the dots, his words) at the deadline & the ask was 'two 1st's +Valamaki + An.....' he caught himself, but suffice it to say the ask for stone was not something the Flames were going to pursue if that was the range Ottawa had set.
At least that's how I heard it.
