If I had to choose one, I would choose Gio, but IMO, it's the combination of the 2 of them. They bring different things, and together, they are the MVPs of a great team.

I actually think Giordano drives a lot of the attack when he's on the ice. Yes, Gaudreau is an important focus for the offense, but he's not the only guy who can create. Tkachuk, Lindholm, Backlund, and Ryan can all create offensive opportunities for others on a regular basis. Monahan is no slouch, but not the primary driver on his line.
But Giordano is a dangerous offensive player in all situations this year. He has 4 short handed goals.....as a defenseman who's our primary penalty killer.....let that sink in for a second. The guy creates offense at every opportunity this year, and his tenacious attack has led to 73 point season to date.
That's not even getting into the defensive side of the game which Gio dominates as well. I know you're saying it's Gio yourself, but I don't think it's all that close.
I'll put it another way. Mark Giordano is likely going to win the Norris trophy this year. I doubt Gaudreau gets into the top 3 for the Hart trophy voting. I think it's obvious that Gio is the team's MVP this year, and I'm saying that as a huge Gaudreau fan.
