Journalism and broadcasting are dying industries. Very few professionals these days ride out their working lives in the field. The pay is low, the hours suck, and there really isn't anywhere to go once you've fought and clawed your way into a niche. Most make the transition into corporate communications of some kind once they hit middle age.
