Columbus sold the farm and gambled everything on this year. There is a potential they not only lose their top 3 players for nothing, but they paid for the privilege to do so with Duchene. They aren't even guaranteed a playoff spot.
I'm not trying to discount the importance of facing a wild card team over a Stanley Cup finalist, but the desperation should be higher for the Jackets, and it shows.
