I think that's fair due to travel, you don't want to be committed to a tournament and then get bumped last minute and have to fly to another tournament. Plus how can you get bumped into qualifying that happened 3 days ago?
It also gives tournament organizers and sponsors certainty.
for example Felix has used his new ranking to commit to Marrakech 250 April 8-14 and Barcelona 500 April 22-28. He cannot be bumped.

Fair enough - I just don't see the positive to be cutting players in or out of events that they rightfully should be main draw participants in because of some antiquated system a few of these tournaments still run.
Every event should pull rankings from a set time-frame so it is even across the calendar and in our current world of instant information, there is no reason to be pulling rankings 3 or more weeks before announcing a draw.
