Monahan's game isn't really built around skating and I think that really limits his effectiveness against tight checking because he's so easy to limit if you just pay enough attention to him. That's my opinion at least.
Gaudreau was double teamed all night. I thought he had a strong game and I don't even blame him for the net front giveaway. I didn't like his coverage on the Pirri goal though, not sure where his brain was at as he could have easily erased that.

I dunno if "nine shots" really describes his game tonight but I can think of at least two shots that were very dangerous, a quick one off a Lindholm drop pass in the high slot that Subban made a nice save on, and an absolute beauty setup by Tkachuk that should have absolutely gone on.

Monahan did have a couple chances. I think he flat out missed the net on one, and the Dman blocked his shot on the other. I'd like to see him demoted down the lineup; I think it's in the team's best interest.
