Flames have a shooting percentage of 8.4% on the year. Seems highly unlikely that this 4% shooting percentage (which would be 2.6% worse than every team in the league) is going to be an ongoing issue.

Yeah but if you are suddenly taking low quality chances more often, shooting percentage will drop. The problem isn't the shooting the percentage has dropped because they are unlucky, it's the quality of the shots that are being generated. They have also been unlucky, which is also compounding the problem.
I missed most of the game last night, but the three before that, the passing has been abysmal, pucks played into guys feet or behind them. It's hard to generate speed on the breakout when you're constantly having to stop moving your feet to take a pass. It hasn't been crisp at all, and that's why, in my opinion at least, why they have been getting so many perimeter shots. If can't enter the zone on the rush, and your opponent has 5 guys in the zone junking up the middle, then perimeter is all you get.
