It was evident early in the 2nd period they weren't going to score a goal in this one and when I checked the final score the final result was as expected.

Some people here think it's a good time to slump before the playoffs but there's no guarantee they get out of this funk as it's now three straight seasons they have played their worst hockey of the year in March so as far as I'm concerned every game they continue to play like this is another nail in their coffin as they need to get away from playing this loser style of hockey ASAP.
I know folks feel like this is an alarmist view after a small bump in the road here with the losing streak.

However, i can't help but think there's a correlation between this streak and the fact that games have gotten more physical and tighter checking. I've noticed almost every game this past week or so, teams are ALWAYS finishing their check on Gaudreau or at least shoving him once a shift even when he doesn't have the puck.

Are they playing more on the perimeter because they are in a slump or because of the playoff style game being played? Perhaps it is a bit both, but this core has shown a willingness to shy away from these battles in past years. It's on them to change the narrative, not about fans giving them the benefit of the doubt here.
