Agreed, and it is the most disappointing aspect of the team over the last 12 months. Mike Smith’s poor to barely average range of play was entirely predictable.
If we look at the last four Stanley Cup Champion teams, it paints a picture as to why the Flames perhaps aren’t being considered a “contender” by some of the media. .922 is the lowest save percentage for a Stanley Cup winning goalie in the last four years.

Goaltending is a significant weakness. Hard to understand why Treliving didn’t address it either in the summer or at some point prior to the trade deadline.
It will be interesting to see what Tree does in the summer.
