If Gio hits 1,000 games played as a Flame and doesn't get his number retired, it'll be beyond ridiculous.

For all we know he'll play until he's 40 and surpass Iggy in GP. (Which would mean we've only seen two thirds of his career at this point.)

Just speaking personally, he's one of my all-time favourites, and my favorite Flames captain. (Which isn't a poke at Iggy.)
