I just don't know if that's the case.
I have no problem with Smith getting the bulk of the starts between now and game 1 of the playoffs to insure that Rittich is healthy and rested.
I don't think there's any question that Rittich is the #1.
It's just that Mike Smith has been so routinely terrible that it is getting hard to justify why he should even be the backup at this point.
There is no other option, at all, which is why Smith sees himself getting starts. What a precarious position to find yourself in as the #2 team in the league.
